It was a busy year at the agency, and we’ve been looking back on some of our favorite memories. Among the many stand-out moments, some of the most memorable were the times we spent working together to serve our community. 

As an agency, we love giving back to our city through quarterly volunteer events. Join us in looking back at our 2023 volunteer events…or as we like to call it, our volun-year in review.  

We kicked off the 2023 volunteering season with a visit to Gleaners Food Bank, an organization that distributes food to those who need it most, where we sorted and packed food into boxes and helped load it into cars to go out into the community. 

Next up on our volunteering efforts of ‘23 was the Cultural Trail cleanup. Many of us love using the trail to bike or walk as our office is just steps away from it. We took a couple of hours out of the workday one spring afternoon to pull weeds and trim back bushes on the section of the trail outside our Virginia Avenue office. 

At WR, we like to mix up our volunteering efforts with passive and active opportunities. So, in June with the back-to-school season approaching, we held a backpack drive at the office. We donated our backpacks and supplies to Volunteers for America’s Operation Backpack. 

In October, a group of us organized a presentation and activity for Indiana Youth Group (IYG) attendees. IYG provides LGBTQ+ youth with programming and community-building opportunities. We drove over to their Meridian Street headquarters one evening to share a little bit about how the advertising industry works. Then, we encouraged the kids’ creativity and had them come up with billboards of their own using magazines, scissors, glue, and 11x17 billboard worksheets. 

We closed out our year of volunteering with a warm clothing drive for Horizon House, a local nonprofit that helps Indianapolis’ unhoused population.
