For the past decade, Williams Randall has baked up a visitor guide on behalf of Visit Hendricks County (VHC). These guides give residents and visitors alike something to bite into—places to go, things to see, and activities that speak to a variety of interests. For every county with a destination marketing organization (DMO), you’ll find a visitor guide. That's why each year we create unique ways to engage readers with Visit Hendricks County's offerings.
Cookie-ing Up an Idea that Stands Out
For previous guides, we have leaned into original photography and custom illustrations. Both options provided interesting ways to highlight key attractions. For the 2024 guide, we decided to do something entirely different: we paired up with Mama Bird Bakery to design cookies that represent some of the county’s top attractions. We worked with the local baker to determine which attractions would showcase well on the cookies, then let Mama Bird work their baking magic. A few weeks later we met back at the bakery to select and photograph cookies for the cover and inside editorial pages. Throughout the guide, you’ll see cookies that highlight the Doctor Who Museum, Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway, Oasis Diner, coffee shops, trails, and more.
Results that Win
Taste test results are in and the judges loved this one! Williams Randall baked up an award-winning visitor guide for Visit Hendricks County. VHC won the Indiana Tourism Association’s Best Visitor Guide award (a category we helped them win in 2018, too!) at the Indiana Tourism Conference.
The judges were fond of “the fresh take on a guide that nearly every destination produces.” Judges cited the refreshing design that “instills a sense of curiosity.”
In addition to the visitor guide award, VHC took home the Best New Experience award for Hendricks Live!, the brand-new event venue that hosts performances, productions, and community events. Join us in congratulating VHC for winning not just one award but two at the Indiana Tourism Conference.
